Univision’s Carolina Valencia joins the Marketing Jury of the RT Academy!

We’re excited to announce that Carolina Valencia (@cvvalencia), Senior Director of Social Media for Univision (@univision), is now a member of the Real-Time Academy. She serves on the Marketing Jury, responsible for picking the finalists and winners of the Shorty Awards for brands, agencies and organizations.

Carolina’s efforts have helped garner over 20 Social TV, CableFax and LATISM awards for Univision Communications. We’re proud to have her on our board! Learn more about Carolina below.

Carolina V. Valencia is senior director of social media for Univision Communications. In this role, she helps lead the social media strategy for the company including Social TV and digital integrations, monetizable solutions, community management, business development and social media planning. Carolina helped create the first enterprise social media team at Univision Communications – defined structure, strategy, processes and priorities. Her efforts have helped garner over 20 Social TV, CableFax and LATISM awards for Univision Communications.  Before her social media role, Carolina worked in corporate communications managing and executing social media and media relations strategies as well as internal communications for several of the Company’s divisions including News, Community Relations, Digital and Local Media. 

Prior to Univision, Carolina was a communications associate, managing media relations and community affairs efforts at The New York Times Company. In this role, she secured key media placements for New York Times stories and journalists on major broadcast outlets and programs, including Charlie Rose, the TODAY show, PBS’ NEWSHOUR, MSNBC’s news programs such as Morning Joe as well as NPR, BBC and several other outlets. She also developed programming for community-related events and created various Community Affairs events for Hispanic audience. Further, she led multimedia projects and managed the Community Affairs web site. During her tenure at The Times, Carolina was recognized with two awards from New York Times Company Chairman Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. for media relations and community affairs.


 A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Carolina is passionate about social media, news organizations and community efforts and initiatives particularly related to education and senior citizens. She holds a B.B.A in international business from Berkeley College and is bilingual.
